Is there an age requirement?

If you’re 18 or above, you can start therapy directly. For anyone under 18, parental or guardian consent is required before starting sessions.

How do I get started?

Just fill out the form on our website. Once we receive it, our team will reach out to you personally to discuss your needs, share therapist options, and guide you through the next steps.

 

2. Therapy and Sessions

 

Is therapy online or offline?

All sessions take place online through secure video calls. Once matched, our team will share the session details and links with you directly.

 

What if I feel my therapist isn’t the right fit?

That’s completely okay. Therapy works best when it feels right. If you’re not comfortable, just let us know and we’ll help you find another therapist who’s a better match.

 

Can I reach out to FOLKS in an emergency?

FOLKS is not an emergency or crisis service. If you’re in immediate distress, please contact a local helpline or visit the nearest hospital.

 

3. Therapy for Teens

 

Do you offer therapy for children or teens?

Yes. We offer therapy for children and adolescents through licensed professionals who specialize in working with young people. For anyone under 18, we’ll need consent from a parent or guardian before beginning sessions.

 

Can my teen start therapy independently?

Teens aged 16 or above can request therapy, but consent from a parent or guardian is still required before we proceed.

 

What if my child has a serious condition?

Our therapists can guide you on the best next steps. In some cases, especially with developmental or neurological conditions, in-person care may be more effective.

How do I make a payment?

We do not collect payments on our website. Once our team connects with you and confirms your therapist, all payments are handled privately and securely through direct communication.

Yes, you can coordinate reschedules or cancellations directly with our team or your therapist. We appreciate at least 24 hours’ notice when possible.
